Lucky Joseph was not lucky on Thursday, March 8, when he suffered dehumanization and brutality in the hands of some overzealous Policemen from Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS). According to Lucky, he was walking along the Odums Street, Choba Extension in the Obio Local government Area of River State when two SARS men came down from their patrol vehicle and grabbed him from back. The men commanded him to raise his hands so that they could search him.
He said, he was searched by the Police and nothing incriminating was found on him, but rather than leave him, the Police wanted to go with him to their station. It was at that point that the crowd who gathered resisted their attempt to go with the 38 years old man.
Lucky said, four of the Police began to drag him, and even stripped him naked. The video of the incident went viral and the Police were seen pulling the private parts of the victim publicly. The Police threw the victim inside the boot of their vehicle intending to take him away when some residents and passers-by came to beg them. Some residents and sympathizers contributed N30,000.00 and gave the Police before they left the victim.
